Merrimack County Savings Bank (The Merrimack) announces the winner of their first Dog Days of Summer photo contest. Out of the top five finalists, Rosco secured the most “likes” when put to public vote on Instagram. As The Merrimack’s top dog, Rosco earned himself $500 and $500 to his local animal rescue nonprofit of choice, Pope Memorial SPCA in Concord.
“We’re so excited Rosco won and that the contest would also support a great nonprofit,” said Della Dolcino, Rosco’s owner. “Rosco is a rescue dog himself so we enjoyed participating and the opportunity to donate back to our local community.”
“We were surprised and excited to hear that Rosco chose us!” said Heather Faria, Executive Director of Pope Memorial SPCA. “We are so grateful to Rosco and to The Merrimack – this gift will go towards providing care to homeless pets in need while we work to find them loving homes.”
This is the first year The Merrimack hosted the Dog Days of Summer contest. To enter, participants had to photograph their pet(s) wearing The Merrimack’s branded #MerrimackStyle bandana and tag @MerrimackStyle on Instagram. The top five finalists that went up for public vote also campaigned for a local animal rescue to receive a matching donation. Those finalists were:
- Archie – Pope Memorial SPCA in Concord
- Cooper – Manchester Animal Shelter in Manchester
- Daisy – Operation Delta Dog in Hollis
- Izzy – Pope Memorial SPCA in Concord
- Rosco – Pope Memorial SPCA in Concord
Thanks to the outpouring of community engagement and excitement, The Merrimack Dog Days of Summer contest will return next year as an annual event. To view this year’s finalists and learn about future events, follow us on Instagram and Facebook.
