Concord, NH – May 13, 2015 – The Merrimack County Savings Bank Foundation granted $3,000 to the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center in Concord, NH. This grant will assist in the development of “We Share the Same Sky”, a monthly Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) program for children and youth from military families. This is one of 19 awards presented by the Foundation to not-for-profit organizations during this grant year, according to Paul Rizzi, President and CEO of Merrimack County Savings Bank.
“We couldn’t be happier to support the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center and this very innovative program,” said Rizzi. “We are grateful for The Foundation’s support of our organization and efforts,” said Jeanne Gerulskis, Executive Director of McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center Corporation. Gerulskis continued, “There is a total of 5,433 military children and youth throughout the state. This grant will go toward the development of our monthly weekend series on the night sky in regions parents of military children have been deployed. It’s a very exciting project.” “We Share the Same Sky” will also feature stories of the night sky from indigenous communities of those regions.
