Concord, NH – April 30, 2015 – At the stroke of noon on Thursday, May 7, it’s "Lid’s Off!" time for the 1965 time capsule’s rustic wooden outer box. The Concord Historical Society invites all to be part of the action in the lobby at Merrimack County Savings Bank, 89 North Main St., Concord. Community members will enjoy the first glimpse at the bulletproof 1965 time capsule nestled inside the outer wooden box.
The newly revealed (but still sealed) 1965 time capsule will remain on display at Merrimack County Savings Bank following the Lid’s Off! event. The time capsule will be opened live for all to see during the Time Capsule Opening Event at Concord City Auditorium on Sunday, June 7 – ice cream social starts at 5:30 p.m., time capsule opening commences at 6:30 p.m.

In the meantime, the Concord Historical Society wants to hear your guesses at what’s in the 1965 time capsule, and suggestions for what should be included in the 2015 time capsule to be buried on November 7. Stop by Merrimack County Savings Bank at 89 North Main St. to fill out a suggestion form, or email ideas to TimeCapsule@concordhistoricalsociety.org by May 15.
The mission of the Concord Historical Society’s Time Capsule Committee is to unearth the 1965 time capsule sited at City Plaza, Downtown Concord (completed June 6, 2014), oversee the opening and related festivities of the 1965 time capsule on June 7, 2015, and to research and select content to be placed in the 2015 time capsule slated for burial on November 7, 2015.
